A man and a woman live on an immense deserted plain. In a corner of the room is a dance band trio. The woman is writing a book by the fire, unaware of the climate catastrophe taking place outside. The man is aware of it, but keeps it to himself out of love for her.

In this way, he keeps up the pretense that all is idyllic, and though they enjoy dancing together to the sounds of the trio, tensions begin to mount. Gruesome reality slowly starts to seep through into the living room from the outside world. The plain was once full of trees, but now that all the hardwood has run out, the marital bed has to be chopped to pieces.

The woman becomes curious and suspicious: what is the man hiding from her? Determined to save the relationship, the woman engages the services of a mind-reader. The mind-reader reveals truths that completely turn the situation on its head...

The Black Room is a tapestry of music and language. Contemporary sounds cut through and distort the dance music, and ultimately strike the dominant note in this global problem reduced to the size of a room.
